Alive East Bay Magazine

I’m so excited! The December issue of Alive East Bay Magazine just came out and there’s an article about Susan Wood “Chasing Light with Passion”. The cover photo was taken during one of my favorite all day shoots out on the marsh in the San Joaquin Delta.

Take a look. – http://alive.homestead.com/index.html

Alive’s October issue included many of my photos of Buzz Aldrin on the USS Hornet during the 40th Apollo 11 Recovery Reunion. This was an incredible opportunity that came my way because of  “relationships”.

Relationships are EVERYTHING! One of the smartest things I did in 2009 was join the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce. My Chamber Ribbon Cutting Ceremony continues to bring me amazing new contacts and opportunities every day.

And, recently I was invited to share with two very special friends, Amy (Buehler) and Jesse Lanzon. Their San Francisco wedding included limo and trolley rides, Irish coffees at the Buena Vista, and playing barfoot on the beach. Together, we spent the day capturing their “Unforgettable Moments in Time”.

One small step for Susan Wood and one giant leap for Susan Wood Photography!

My past 2 weeks have been, “One small step for Susan Wood and one giant leap for Susan Wood Photography!” Every time I say, “How can life get any better?” another GREAT thing happens!

I don’t know what I’ve been more excited about:
- My first helicopter ride (with CALSTAR)

- Meeting, getting to know, and photographing the Apollo 11 Recovery Team
- Spending an entire day photographing Buzz Aldrin (I even got a kiss on the cheek from the second man to walk on the moon!).

How can life get any better!!!

It was a great honor and privilege (not to mention a whole lot of fun!) to be “the” photographer for the USS Hornet during Splashdown 2009 – the 40th Reunion of the Apollo 11 Recovery. I spent 2 amazing days capturing unforgettable “moments in time”!

I started my photography business just over 3 years ago. But now it’s really “blasting off” and I’m on an incredible journey, having the time of my life and appreciating every minute of everyday! How can life get any better!!!

My VERY SPECIAL thanks go to Bob Fish (author of Hornet Plus Three) for giving me this amazing opportunity. And, a huge thanks to Rod Harris and the Pleasant Hill Chamber of Commerce who brought Bob into my life and my photography studio.

Open Studio Photography Show

SAVE the DATE!

“Open Studio Photography Show” – Friday, November 7th (3:00 to 6:00pm) and Saturday & Sunday, November 8th & 9th (11:00 to 5:00pm)

12 Wood Creek Place in Pleasant Hill, CA

I’ve been really busy chasing light with my cameras and would love to share the photos with you! – From ducks & waterfowl to deer, flowers, vineyards, airplanes, motorcycles, people, and more – there is something for everyone.

My life and opportunities keep changing faster than the light does! The hardest part of each day has been trying to decide what to wear when I get up in the morning – camouflage, cowboy boots, biker chick clothes, or something else?

Some of my recent adventures include taking photos from the back of moving motorcycles and snapping shots of kids under water. I’ve also recently been talked into doing a few “non-traditional” weddings including one where the bride, groom, and all of their guests were photographed wearing red wax lips. Life is definitely never dull!

In the next few months (in addition to my Open Studio Show) I’ll be busy taking family holiday portraits and working with my new partner/stylist on our new “Women’s Only” photo shoot parties. I’ll also be out with the ducks & waterfowl (as they migrate back to the area) doing what I love to do – Chasing Light with Passion!

Sunshine & Smiles, Susan

Time to step off of my roller coaster ride and give you an update!

The past months have been absolutely incredible – the people, the places, the things with wings! I’ve been out chasing light with my cameras everyday and loving every minute of it!

My portrait clients have included pregnant women, babies, children, high school seniors, families, dogs, and even a horse named Fudge. The relationships I’ve developed with each client are as special as the photos we created together and, whether we were in my studio or out of doors, we ALWAYS had fun!

These days, you never know just where you might find me out capturing “unforgettable moments in time” – running around a park, at a school event, a dance studio, a youth camp, an airport, on a sailboat, under a crop duster, on Treasure Island at 2am, a CAL water polo game in the pouring rain (Go Bears!), or out in the marshes tracking down things with wings – Everyday is different and everyday is a gift!

To my amazing family and friends – Thank you again for all of your love and support! And, a huge thank you to Action Photo Service – one of my biggest supporters – for all you have done and continue to do for Susan Wood Photography and for me.

To chasing light with passion,

Susan

But, most of all, for their steadfast belief in me and in my talent and abilities as a photographer!
